The nearly 48 islands and islets, some of them uninhabited, lie far from the beaten
tourist track in the northern Caribbean, about 100 kilometres east of Puerto Rico.
Numerous bays and hidden caves form the coastline of the British Virgin Islands,
where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. For centuries they were
protection for seafarers and a hiding place for smugglers. Nowadays these hidden
natural wonders are available for everyone to see. On the British Virgin Islands, you
find no huge crowds, no casinos, skyscrapers or fast-food restaurants.
Instead, the islands fascinate you with secluded dream-beaches, luxury
hotels, small guest-houses, hospitable locals and a landscape that is untouched to a
large extent.
