British Virgin Islands - "Nature 's Little Secrets"

The nearly 48 islands and islets, some of them uninhabited, lie far from the beaten tourist track in the northern Caribbean, about 100 kilometres east of Puerto Rico. Numerous bays and hidden caves form the coastline of the British Virgin Islands, where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. For centuries they were protection for seafarers and a hiding place for smugglers. Nowadays these hidden natural wonders are available for everyone to see. On the British Virgin Islands, you find no huge crowds, no casinos, skyscrapers or fast-food restaurants. Instead, the islands fascinate you with secluded dream-beaches, luxury hotels, small guest-houses, hospitable locals and a landscape that is untouched to a large extent.

All of the islands, except Anegada, are of volcanic origin. You can take fantastic walks in the mountains and shop in small stores. Naturally, the main attractions are the beach and the turquoise sea for sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and diving. You can also exchange your wedding vows on the virtually untouched islands. The sole condition is that you spend three days there before the wedding.

The climate is tropical, but it is moderated by the tradewinds. There are only marginal differences between summer and winter with temperatures that average 25°C to 30°C. The Islands have a low level of precipitation with only a little more rain in the months of May through October.
